Acupressure Massage - Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get undressed? No, this massage works through your clothing on your back and upper arms so you keep fully clothed. However, it is a good idea though not to wear a really thick pullover.

Does my hair get oily? No, the acupressure massage does not use any oils or creams. At most you will need to brush your hair afterwards and reapply hair gel if you use it.

How often should I have a treatment? Acupressure massage is often carried out in the workplace and as such tends to be enjoyed on a monthly basis.

How quickly does it work? You may feel the benefit of relaxation and relief from muscle tension immediately after the treatment. The acupressure effects continue for the next few days.

Are there any side effects? There are no known side effects to Acupressure massage other than the elimination effects that are sometimes felt as the toxins move out of the body. This can be anything from feeling slightly light headed, emotional, extreme tiredness, or slightly muzzy head but depends largely on each person. It is a positive effect as it means the body is responding.

Can anyone receive Acupressure Massage treatments? These treatments are suitable for most people with a few exceptions; during pregnancy and unmanaged low blood pressure. Acorn Clinic also does not treat people for this massage with infectious diseases, , anyone suffering any undiagnosed lumps or swelling, known internal bleeding, persons receiving cancer care, or anyone under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. Please note persons under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by someone over that age.

Should I stop taking my medication before or after a treatment? Acupressure massage is not a substitute for orthodox medicine, it is complementary meaning it works alongside. Any changes you may feel necessary to your medication should be discussed with your Doctor before making any changes.

Complementary therapies should be used to complement the use of conventional medicine and should never take the place of appropriate medical advice
